Bank Maintenance

As soon as the fishing season ends the club's bank maintenance team begins it's programme of work to ensure that anglers fishing the TTA waters are able to get the best from the river. Our team is quite remarkable, it's manned entirely by volunteers who turn out to work, regardless of the extremes of the winter weather, at 9am each Sunday morning, bar Christmas, between October and April.
Our work is sanctioned by the Countryside Council for Wales who have ascertained that our work is professionally and sensitively undertaken in accordance with the regulations governing a river defined as a Special Area of Conservation. We currently have consent to continue operating our programme for the next six years.
The professionalism of the team has been driven by the example set by Clive Shaw to whom the club is indebted for years of tireless work. Under his guidance the club has built up a considerable array of equipment and expertise with which to tackle jobs from building a stile to hauling a mature oak tree from a river flowing at winter levels. The picture below shows Clive - 74 years old - tackling an overhanging branch while we lesser mortals look on.

Working with the bank team is a good way to get to know both the river and someof the most dedicated club members. We meet at 9am each Sunday at the club hut in Cenarth car park and welcome any help offered.
