Mr. Donald Brown, a member of the TTA for 25+ years with his first fly caught Teifi salmon which weighed in at 15lbs. Don caught the beauty on the picnic ground side of Fforest Pool on Wednesday, 14th September on a Cascade fly. Don had a 16lb pounder - the fish of the year for the club - around three years ago but this one's even more special to him. Well done Don, a lot of us know what this must mean to you!

ANNUAL DINNER The 2009 club dinner seems to have come around remarkably quickly and I'm pleased to say that it will be held in Coracles Cenarth again this year. There are 90 places available on the night and to make sure you, your friends and family will get a table it's best to book well in advance. We're very grateful to David Griffiths for organising this event once more, please take a look at the menu and when you've made your choice print the booking form off, fill it in and post it back to him at the address shown on the form.

Invertebrate Monitoring
The Teifi Rivers Invertebrate Monitors (TRIM) Several members of the Teifi Trout Association along with volunteers along the Teifi Valley are collecting invertebrates from local tributaries to build up a picture of the abundance and variety of these fascinating aquatic creatures. They've been trained in the Riverfly Partnership method of collection which is a nation wide project to register what remains of our river fly life. TRIM would like to acknowledge and thank the TTA for their financial support which has funded two collection kits for the group. Aquatic invertebrates are, if you like, the" canaries in the cage" for rivers. If the different species are absent, or present in low numbers, the river has a problem - a healthy river has abundant and diverse species. It takes a year of collecting to begin to draw scientifically valid conclusions regarding the health of a river and TRIM haven't been going for that long, however you can monitor the progress of the collections by visiting the group's web site where the data is uploaded every three months.
If you're interested in being trained up in identifying and collecting for the group please contact the group coordinator, Colin Chapman via email

There's a lot of reading - some of it interesting. Details of the consultation and draft plans can be found here .
